Who is HNGR5-MX…
Patrick “Pat” Finucane founded Hangar 5 Maintenance LLC. in Mid-2025, towards the end of his military career in the Army to support the maintenance demand & need for Rotax specialty services. His involvement in General Aviation (GA) maintenance really began back in 1992, when he would help his father conduct owner-assisted annual inspection on the family’s Piper Tomahawk. As Pat grew up maintaining and flying the Piper Tomahawk, he became knowledgable on many maintenance issues. He soon found a passion for problem solving maintenance issues with the Tomahawk along with helping other friends & owners aircrafts at his local airport. By mid-2001, Pat passed his Private Pilot exam in that same Tomahawk, then graduated high school the next year. Because of the attacks on September 11, 2001, Pat shifted his focus on supporting the defense of our nation and joined the Army. After a year in the Army, Pat volunteered for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) and continued his training and career working with MH-47s Chinook helicopters.
Over the years being deployed numerous times, Pat never forgot his love for GA and later received his Airframe & PowerPlant mechanic certificate in 2010. He continued to stay current within GA maintenance working on family & friend’s aircraft during his leave time in the Army, in-between deployments and the occasional training missions throughout his military career. By 2012, Pat had finish helping his father build a Van’s RV-12 with a Rotax 912uls, and found a new passion for the Rotax engine designs compared to conventional Lycoming or Continental engines.
During his time in the Military, Pat was able to graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a BS degree in Professional Aeronautics and minors in Airport Management and Aviation Safety. He also received additional certificates from the University of Alabama and University of Texas-Arlington in OHSA, Aviation Accident Investigation, NEC, & NFPA.
During his transition from the Army, Pat strengthen his love for GA maintenance and earned his A&P with Inspection Authority (IA) certificate.
Pat’s ability to fly to customers and assist them with many different GA maintenance repairs & inspections is unprecedented. His love for maintenance follows the same motto he learned from his time with the 160th, in keeping with the tradition of “Attention to Detail”. He also follows the mindset of “Doing it Right the First Time,” so the maintenance doesn't have to be redone again. This ideology and having “No-Fail Attitude” is what helps him to succeed in times when maintenance is critical. With today’s media capitalizing on GA accidents, Pat is working to change to mindset that general aviation is safe again.
Pat’s ambition is what led him to create his business motto of;
“Quality over Quantity...Doing it Right the First Time.”
