Who is HNGR5MX…?
Patrick “Pat” Finucane ,founded Hangar 5 Maintenance LLC. in Mid-2025, towards the end of his military career in the Army, to support the maintenance demand & need for Rotax specialty services. His involvement in General Aviation (GA) maintenance really began back in 1992, when he would help his father conduct owner-assisted annual inspections on the family’s Piper Tomahawk. As Pat grew up learning to fly and maintain the Piper Tomahawk, he soon became knowledgable about maintenance and some of the issues that arise with aircraft ownership. Pat found a passion for resolving maintenance issues with the Tomahawk, and some of the family friends who had their aircraft. By mid-2001, Pat passed his Private Pilot exam in that very same Tomahawk growing up while attending his last year in high school. After high school, Pat was working towards attend the local College to receive his Aircraft Mechanic certificate. However, the attacks on September 11, 2001 changed his focus, and Pat decided on supporting the defense of our nation by joining the Army. After only a year in the Army, Pat soon volunteered for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) and continued his passion for maintenance working on the very complex and maintenance challenging MH-47s Modified Chinook helicopters.
Over the years being deployed numerous times, Pat never forgot his love for GA. Through studying and constantly learning new maintenance skills from the specialty shops in the Army and on the flight line, Pat attended schooling for his Airframe & PowerPlant (A&P) mechanic certificate, while attend BNCO in VA. His determination to learn new skills while attending night classes, helped him to received his A&P certificate in 2010. Over the years, Pat continued to stay current with the changes and updates in GA while maintaining his family & friend’s aircraft, both during his time on leave in the Army, and in-between deployments during his military career. By 2012, Pat had helped his father finish building the Van’s RV-12 with a newly designed Rotax 912uls. He soon found a new passion for the Rotax engine designs, as compared to conventional Lycoming or Continental engines and later went on to attend school to become Rotax Certified .
During his time in the Military, Pat graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a BS degree in Professional Aeronautics and minors in both Airport Management and Aviation Safety. He also received additional certificates from the University of Alabama and University of Texas-Arlington in the fields of OHSA, Aviation Accident Investigation, NEC, & NFPA.
Nearing his retirement from the Army and noticing a decline in the GA community for certified mechanics, Pat went on to attend schooling for his A&P to add the Inspection Authority (IA) certificate. Since then, Pat has been nonstop help friends and coworkers with their aircraft maintenance needs.
His love for maintenance follows the same motto he learned during his time with the 160th SOAR; “Attention to Detail”, as customers are more important than Mission. Over the years, working on the flight-line in combat in in the states, has solicited in him to have the mind-set of “Doing it Right the First Time.”
This safety minded approach is what led Pat to use the motto; “Quality over Quantity...Doing it Right the First Time.”
